If you go down to the woods today…

Visitors to Berlin have been treated to an amazing display of light and sound to promote the WWF’s latest campaign

The World Wildlife Fund’s ongoing campaign to protect the world’s fast diminishing forests got a recent boost when it commissioned the Deutschland wird Wald Meister 2011, or Year of the Forest campaign in Berlin, Germany.

The Year of the Forest initiative is supported by prominent German celebrities, and featured a temporary installation on the steps of the famous Konzerthaus in Berlin’s Gendarmenmarkt Square.

Twenty-six incredible tree sculptures, each measuring up to six metres in height, were carefully created by Fred Pommerehn using recycled cardboard to create a surreal forest environment on the steps of the historic building, which was then lit for the darkness hours.

A Jands Vista I3 console running next generation Vista v2 software was specified by the renowned installation artist and lighting designer, Pommerehn to control the lighting, which quickly became a talking point and attraction.

Pommerehn’s inventive set design, sculptural and installation work embraces many disciplines and frequently involves lighting as an integral element. For the WWF event, Lichtblick Bühnentechnik supplied all the technical production, and also constructed the trees, project managed by Frederik Wehlmann….
