Lighting solution provided by Slovak producer can decrease the energy consumption of one of market leaders by a 50 %.
German Osram is one of global leading lamp producers. The lighting solution for a company canteen in its Regensburg headquarters was handed over to Slovak luminaire producer OMS though. This fast-growing important player has not let down its long-term business partner. The custom-made solution has reduced the energy requirements by a half and also provided full lighting control, with higher light output and better colour rendering index.
“This is a logical continuation of a long-term cooperation,” says Ales Markytan from Osram Opto Semicondictors. The strong bond between German lamp and component producer and Slovak luminaire manufacturer has been forged in the 90s. Osram has become a long-time lamp provider for OMS and cooperates closely in resear of lighting solutions. That is why Osram chose OMS to provide illumination of employee canteen, where the Osram staff replenishes their stamina during the workday.“The requirement was to rescent lamp system with a much mor-cient one with higher quality of light, naturally using LED technology,” says Martin Bílek, Head of Lighting Division in Research and Development Department of OMS and the supervisor of the project. OMS used the Osram technology, LEDs from OSLON product line, which provide very high colour rendering index.
Lighting solution in the Osram canteen received a special optical system called a microprismatic diffuser, which provides homogenous lighting without glare. Evey luminaire is equipped with dimmable LED driver with the possibility of full control through DALI interface. Sufficient illumination together with high colour rendering index allows the workers to feel at ease and provides a relaxing atmosphere. „They can very accurately recognize interior objects in the canteen, the faces of their colleagues and the food itself,“ Mr. Bílek comments.
Osram also appreciates the fact that „the active lighting management and more efficient light sources have decreased the energy consumption in the space by a half,“ Mr. Markytan says. He has high praise for OMS work and therefore the Regensburg cooperation will not be their last. Both companies already work together on „Brilliant Mix“project, which aims to provide higher quality lighting and the possibility to tune the light colour.
